Chandigarh, January 17: Bharatiya Janata Party’s Anoop Gupta won the mayoral election in Chandigarh on Tuesday, defeating Aam Aadmi Party’s Jasbir Singh. According to officials, BJP candidate Anoop Gupta got 15 votes, while the AAP candidate got 14 votes.

BJP and AAP both have 14 councilors each in the House, while BJP’s Lok Sabha member from Chandigarh Kirron Kher has the right to vote as an ex-officio member of the Municipal Corporation House. Kirron Kher also voted. Now after the election of Mayor, there will be election for the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
