Srinagar, January 15: A pregnant woman in critical condition in Jammu and Kashmir’s snow-clad Kupwara was airlifted to Srinagar by the Indian Army on the request of the civil administration. The army gave this information on Sunday. The army said, Nusrat Begum, a resident of Chitrakoot, was admitted to SDH Karnah in critical condition on Saturday evening due to labor pain. The link to Srinagar was cut off from NH 701 due to continuous snowfall for 7 days. Despite the efforts of experts at SDH Karnah, Nusrat Begum’s life was in danger due to limited medical facilities.
As soon as the civil administration requested for assistance, the Indian Army immediately responded to the call and a large number of jawans voluntarily came forward to donate blood to save the life of the patient. Immediately two units of blood were donated to the sick patient. Along with this, arrangements were made for evacuation by helicopter.
