Mumbai, January 9: The Navi Mumbai Police on Monday arrested a 30-year-old man from Taloja for allegedly indecent act in front of a woman in the lift of a housing society building. The police swung into action after social activist Binu Varghese shared the CCTV footage of the shameful incident on social media.
In a tweet on Sunday night’s developments, Varghese said, “A young man is seen making inappropriate, obscene gestures to a woman in the lift. The incident happened at Marble Arch CHS in Taloja. The person has been identified as Asif Shahid Sayyed. Taking cognizance of the video going viral, Taloja police called the victim woman and Sayyed for investigation. Police said that after recording the statement of the woman in the case and surveying the construction site, the police registered a case against the culprit and arrested Sayyed on various charges including molestation.
