American tennis player Sebastian Korda pulls out of Wimbledon

The 21-year-old world number 46, who made his Wimbledon debut last year, announced a late return on Monday after losing to Australian John Millman in Eastbourne on Monday.

The young American had an impressive debut Wimbledon season in 2021, reaching the quarterfinals before losing to Karen Khachanov of Russia. He started this grass-court season in Halle, where he lost to Spain’s Pablo Carreo Busta in round-of-16.

“Hello everyone. Sadly I had to withdraw from Wimbledon after my match in Eastbourne (on Monday). I’ve been suffering from a terrible calf and leg injury for some time now and can’t go through with it. Have been advised to rest and recover, the best way forward,” Korda tweeted.
